Use of has to have to has to and will have

In today’s lesson, we will be learning the use of ‘Has to’, ‘have to’, ‘had to’, and ‘will have to’. We mostly use these words incorrectly. As we all know these words can be used in sentences for different meanings but in this lesson, we will be going to use them for obligation, compulsion, etc.

When these words are used in a sentence it gives different meanings in Urdu.

Has to

It is called to be a modal auxiliary verb that is used when the present tense is used. When a singular noun is used “has to” is being implied in the sentence. A singular noun could be one person, animal, or thing. This verb “has to” is designated with 3rd persons.

He has to learn. اسے پڑھنا ہوگا۔
She has to work late. اسے دیر سے کام کرنا پڑتا ہے۔
He has to pay for this. اسے اس کی قیمت چکانی پڑتی ہے۔
She has to say something. اسے کچھ کہنا ہے۔
He has to do all the work alone. اسے تمام کام اکیلے کرنے پڑتے ہیں۔
She has to buy new books for school. اسے اسکول کے لیے نئی کتابیں خریدنی ہیں۔
She has to report to her boss by 5.pm. اسے شام 5 بجے تک اپنے باس کو رپورٹ کرنا ہوگی۔
It has to be a lucky day for him. یہ اس کے لیے ایک خوش قسمت دن ہونا چاہیے۔
She has to stay here till midnight. اسے آدھی رات تک یہاں رہنا ہے۔
He has to borrow money from her. اسے اس سے پیسے ادھار لینے پڑتے ہیں۔

Have to

“Have to” is also an auxiliary verb and is used in present-tense sentences. Whenever a plural noun is used the verb “have to” is used. When more than one plural person, animal, or thing is explained in a sentence the verb “have to” is used. Also when talking about the 1st person “I” and 2nd Person “You” “have to” is used.

You have to stay indoors. آپ کو گھر کے اندر رہنا ہوگا۔
You have to eat healthy. آپ کو صحت مند کھانا چاہئے۔
We have to do it together. ہمیں مل کر کرنا ہے۔
I have to tell you something. مجھے اپ سے کچھ کہنا ہے.
We have to accept the changes. ہمیں تبدیلیوں کو قبول کرنا ہوگا۔
I have to go to the dentist. مجھے ڈینٹسٹ کے پاس جانا ہے۔
He’ll have to stay here for tonight. اسے آج رات یہاں رہنا پڑے گا۔
We have to clean the garden. ہمیں باغ کو صاف کرنا ہے۔
You don’t have to worry about this matter. آپ کو اس معاملے میں پریشان ہونے کی ضرورت نہیں ہے۔
I have to pick my daughter from school. مجھے اپنی بیٹی کو سکول سے چننا ہے۔

Had to

When one talks about something that existed in the past. He/she should be taking the use of “had to”. The past tense of have to is “Had to”.

She had to focus on her career. اسے اپنے کیریئر پر توجہ دینی تھی۔
Ali had to come back home soon. علی کو جلد ہی گھر واپس آنا تھا۔
Ahsan had to survive through the trauma. احسن کو صدمے سے بچنا پڑا۔
There had to be a way out of the tunnel. سرنگ سے نکلنے کا راستہ ہونا تھا۔
Amina had to do something for the baby. آمنہ کو بچے کے لیے کچھ کرنا تھا۔
She had to work for her family. اسے اپنے خاندان کے لیے کام کرنا تھا۔
They had to help her. انہیں اس کی مدد کرنی تھی۔
No matter what she had to enter the building اس سے کوئی فرق نہیں پڑتا تھا کہ اسے عمارت میں داخل ہونا تھا۔
He had to stay strong for the sake of his mother. اسے اپنی ماں کی خاطر مضبوط رہنا پڑا۔
We had to go. ہمیں جانا پڑا۔

Will have to

This term is used when one looks back from the present or in the future. Or when you are obliged to do something in the future the term “will have to” is used.

You will have to listen to me. تمہیں میری بات سننی پڑے گی۔
The children will have to work according to the timetable. بچوں کو ٹائم ٹیبل کے مطابق کام کرنا پڑے گا۔
You will have to tell what the truth is. آپ کو بتانا پڑے گا کہ حقیقت کیا ہے۔
He will have to sell his belongings. اسے اپنا سامان بیچنا پڑے گا۔
I will have to stay home tonight. مجھے آج رات گھر رہنا پڑے گا۔
I will have to earn their trust. مجھے ان کا اعتماد حاصل کرنا پڑے گا۔
I will have to go without her. مجھے اس کے بغیر جانا پڑے گا۔
She will have to leave early for the flight.  اسے فلائٹ کے لیے جلدی روانہ ہونا پڑے گا۔
She knows she will have to do the chores. وہ جانتی ہے کہ اسے کام کاج کرنا پڑے گا۔
He will have to go to work tomorrow if his boss calls. اسے کل کام پر جانا پڑے گا اگر اس کے باس نے بلایا۔

These words are used to talk about present, past and future compulsions means you are compelled to do something. These words are commonly used in English sentences and have 3 forms present, past and future.
